According to an article in Digital Commerce360, porch piracy is a problem that is not going away. In a November 2020 survey by InsuranceQuotes.com, 18% of U.S. consumers said they were victims of so-called porch pirates–criminals who steal shipments from doorsteps.
Cybersource Corp., a Visa-owned provider of fraud prevention services says it has seen a “significant increase” in porch piracy this year. However, Accertify, Inc., which is owned by American Express says it does not believe it is increasing because of the proliferation of video doorbells and the fact that more people are working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
